Our Wax Filler Sticks are soft wax sticks used for fixing all types of damage to wood. They are the same Wax Filler Sticks that we use in our Floor & Furniture Repair Kit. The Wax Filler Sticks are supplied in larger packs though to provide a more comprehensive selection of colours.
The various colour kits available are:
Light Wood
Medium Wood
Dark Wood
Red-Brown Wood
Grey
White
The shades of white are also great for using on painted surfaces such as doors and windows, and can also be used to fix damage to plastics and UPVC.
Wood has two colours: a base colour and a darker grain colour. To get the best results, select a colour crayon that best matches the base colour.
Rub the wax crayon into the wood to fill the damage, then scrape away the excess using the scraper provided in the kit. Next, select a darker wax crayon that matches the grain colour and wipe over the darker colour to act as the grain. Lastly, scrape away any excess using the scraper.
Another way to replicate the grain pattern in wood is to scratch lines that mimic the grain into the base wax colour. You can do this using the scraper, or any other narrow pointed object (like a skewer or needle). When you then wipe the darker wax crayon over the base colour, it will fill the markings, making them look like the grain. Then, scrape away any excess using the scraper.
If there is any excess wax on the wood that the scraper cannot get off (sometimes it can get into small areas of grain) then you can use one of our Abrasive Pads to remove it. Just gently wipe the pad on the surface and it will remove the excess.
