It will transform any item in just one coat preventing the wood from greying and will last for years with built in UV inhibitors which reduce fading.
Shed & Fence Stain Suitable For
Shed & Fence Stain can be used on all rough sawn garden timber, including previously stained wood.
Shed & Fence Stain Coverage & Shelf Life
5 Ltrs of Shed & Fence Stain will cover approximately 30m² with one coat.
Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Store between 8°C and 30°C.
Once opened, use within 1 year.
Before you start:
Make sure it is a warm and dry day and no rain is forecast!
Stir thoroughly before use.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust and dirt. A stiff bristled brush can be used to remove any loose dirt and a hose pipe to remove any mud. Ensure surfaces are free from mould, mildew, moss, and algae.
Remove any loose, flaking or peeling old finishes from previously coated surfaces.
After cleaning, allow wood to thoroughly dry.
Apply with a brush:
Apply liberally with a synthetic bristled brush, moving in the direction of the grain. Be sure to cover all of the wood, including any edges, for maximum protection.
Apply with a Sprayer:
Please refer to sprayers’ instructions for specific guidance. Shed & Fence Stain is ready to spray and does not need to be thinned. However, depending on the sprayer being used it can be thinned with up to 10% water to allow a better flow rate through the sprayer.
Make sure it’s not too windy when spraying. Pour the stain into the sprayer reservoir and start spraying using long arm movements going in the direction of the grain. If the grain of the wood is particularly rough, the timber may absorb the stain more in some areas. To help even this out, after spraying, simply go over the area with a clean brush to spread the stain more evenly.
The item will be showerproof in one hour, depending on temperature and humidity conditions. Multiple coats will enhance and deepen the colour, if required. Recoat time is four hours.
Our Shed & Fence Stain is water based, so clean up is really easy; simply remove as much product from your brush as possible and then clean in warm soapy water.
Can I use this product on smooth wood?
Because of the nice thick consistency of this product, it does not penetrate deep into smooth wood and so is not recommended. Whereas sheds and fences - which use rough sawn timber - absorb the stain like a sponge! For smooth wood we recommend our Wood Stain.
I painted my fence 2 years ago with another product which has now started to peel and flake off, can I use this to cover it?
Yes; simply remove any loose debris before you start. You may need a couple of coats to completely cover the old colour.
Do I need to apply an oil afterwards to seal the stain?
No, the Stain is all you need to colour and protect fences and sheds.
