Penetrates teak to protect and enhance, leaving a natural matt finish.
Our Teak Oil is formulated using a traditional recipe of pure, high quality Tung and Linseed Oil. This allows the teak oil to not only restore the beauty of old and weathered teak furniture, but it will also protect and waterproof exotic wood and hardwoods.
Teak Oil can be used to seal and protect unfinished or bare teak and to also maintain it on an ongoing basis. Ideal for garden furniture; treating your furniture with Teak Oil will help prevent the it from weathering and turning grey over time. If this has happened to your furniture already, you can use our Garden Furniture Restoration Kit to restore the attractive honey colour to the teak.
Using Teak Oil from the day you purchase your teak will help the wood stay in better condition for longer.
Our Teak Oil can be used on any indoor or outdoor item of wood. It is not just used on teak but is suitable for all hardwood and exotic woods.
500ml of Teak Oil will cover up to 10m2.
The product will last for many years if stored at room temperature and has a useable life of three years once opened.
If you want to restore old, grey and weather Teak Furniture you should use our Garden Furniture Restoration Kit.
Before applying the Teak Oil ensure the surface is dry, clean and dust free.
Indoor wood: Use our Wood Cleaner to remove any dirt and grime.
Outdoor wood: Use our Teak Cleaner to remove any dirt and grime. The Teak Cleaner will also help to restore the colour if the wood is looking grey.
If there are any old residues of finish, varnish or wax on the wood wipe it down with White Spirit to remove these.
Once clean, using our Teak Brightener will lift the colour of your teak and aid in a more even absorbtion of the oil.
Shake the bottle well before use. If you are unsure of the finish, test it on an unseen area first.
Apply the Teak Oil liberally to a lint-free cloth and rub into the wood following the direction of the grain. Leave for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess. Leave the Teak Oil to thoroughly soak in and dry for between 4-6 hours.
Bare Wood: If you are applying Teak Oil to bare wood for the first time you’ll need to apply three coats. Wait until the first coat has thoroughly dried (4-6 hours) before applying the second coat of Teak Oil.
If you’re just topping up a previously oiled surface only one application is necessary.
You should reapply the Teak Oil as soon as you see signs of it wearing off. This would usually be when the wood starts to look dry. Otherwise, reapply the oil annually to keep your wood well maintained.
