This water-based contact adhesive is the best solution to attach the Repair Sub Patch to the reverse of leather when carrying out repairs.
We have developed the Contact Adhesive to represent the ultimate in quick grab latex technology and is ideal for bonding all fibrous materials to a wide variety of porous substrates which makes it the perfect glue to bond the Sub patch to the fibrous texture of the flesh (suede) side of leather.
This leather glue has the benefit of being water-based therefore, unlike traditional solvent-based contact adhesives, it gives you more workable time without the fear of it drying too quickly, and there is no need to apply the glue to both sides like most contact adhesives. In addition, it still has the quick grab capability which allows you to apply the Repair Sub Patch in seconds and carry on with the rest of the repair.

5ml Contact Adhesive WB Coverage and Shelf Life
1 x 5ml tube is sufficient to apply numerous Repair Sub Patches.
Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Store between 5°C and 25°C.
Once opened, use within 1 year.
If the back of the leather is accessible, simply apply the Contact Adhesive to the back side (flesh or suede side of the leather). Apply the glue evenly around the edges of the damage and place the Repair Sub Patch over the glue with moderate pressure.
If the back of the leather is not accessible, the Repair Sub Patch should be placed behind the damage (on the flesh side of the leather) by pushing it through the damage and manipulating the Repair Sub Patch so that it lies flat below the damage.
Apply the Contact Adhesive to the underside of the leather. This can be achieved by simply pushing the nozzle through the damage and applying it directly from the tube. Press down the leather with moderate pressure to contact the Repair Sub Patch. The glue will ‘grab’ instantly.
The size of the Repair Sub Patch should be about 1cm larger than the damage around all edges. The Contact Adhesive is instant grab but does require 15 minutes to be touch dry before any other products are used to continue with the repair. A hairdryer can be used to speed up this drying time to around 2 minutes.
The repaired area can be used after 24 hours, but the glue will continue to cure over the next 7 days.
Q. What is the difference between the Contact Adhesive and Leather Glue PU or Leather Glue SB?
A. The Contact adhesive WB is only to be used to fix a repair sub patch to the back of the leather, whereas our other glues can bond leather to leather.
Q. When would you use the Contact Adhesive instead of your other Leather Glues?
A. When you need to attach a repair sub patch to the reverse of the leather
