About the product

Furniture Clinic Wood Oil has been designed to seal and protect bare wood as well as re-oiling wood to maintain it and build up protection. Wood Oil can be used on all interior and exterior wooden surfaces and dries to provide a lovely satin finish.

Wood Oil provides water resistance to all bare woods helping reduce staining and making the wood easier to clean and maintain.

Treated kitchen cupboards

The protective, water resistant, barrier provided by Wood Oil also makes it ideal for protecting and maintaining wood furniture used in the kitchen and dining areas, where spills and exposure to water and other liquids are a frequent hazard to unprotected surfaces.

Suitable For:

Wood Oil is completely safe to use on all types of wood, whether located in the home or externally.

It is very well suited for use on wood items located in the home, including furniture such as kitchen cupboards, dining tables & chairs, sideboards and coffee tables etc.

Instructions

Step 1.

Thoroughly clean the surface to remove all dirt and grime and allow the wood to dry. If the wood is stained, sand gently with fine sandpaper to remove the mark. Ensure the surface is free from dust by wiping it down with a tack cloth.

Step 2.

Apply the Wood Oil onto a Lint Free Cotton Cloth and wipe over the wooden surface following the direction of the grain, leave for a few minutes and wipe off any surplus oil with the same cloth. Leave for between 4 – 6 hours for the oil to dry.

If applying to bare wood, apply 3-5 thin coats of Wood Oil allowing the previous coat to thoroughly dry before applying the next.

Step 3.

Wood Oil should be re-applied once a year for maintenance of furniture. For worktops, exterior wood or other woods heavily used, Wood Oil should be re-applied more regularly. When properly protected, Wood Oil will cause liquids to bead up on the surface in the form of globules; a good indication of when Wood Oil needs to be re-applied is when liquids start to lie flat on the surface instead of beading up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any type of wood that Wood Oil should not be used on?

No, Wood Oil is a highly effective solution for protection and maintenance of all types of wood.

How often should I apply Wood Oil?

To maintain and protect interior woods like furniture that see a typical level of use, Wood Oil should be thoroughly applied once per year for total protection. For work tops or external wood, or those items that see a high level of use, it should be applied more regularly.

As explained on the main product page, a good indicator to judge if your wood requires another application is how water behaves on the surface of the wood. If the water stays on the surface without any significant degree of absorption into the wood, your item is protected and does not need another treatment just yet. If the water is absorbed into the wood, the protection has worn off and you should apply the Wood Oil again in order to protect it.

Can Wood Oil be used to clean my wooden surfaces?

No, Wood Oil is not a cleaning agent and should only be applied after any dirt, grime or contaminants have been removed from the wood. This should be carried out with Wood Cleaner or Wood Reviver, only after cleaning should Wood Oil be applied.
