The images in this example show the effects of a coffee spill on a fabric surface, both before being treated by Fabric Protector and after. The difference can clearly be seen, with the spillage instantly being absorbed by the fabric in the 'before' sample. Where as the 'after' sample, with only a single treatment of Fabric Protector, effectively holds the spill on the surface, giving valuable time to remove it and prevent a nasty stain.
Vacuum the fabric thoroughly to remove all dirt and dust.
If stained or dirty, use the Fabric Cleaner & Spotter first. After cleaning, allow the fabric to dry.
Shake the fabric protector well. Spray onto the fabric and allow to dry. It is advised to spray high use areas first and more generously.
You only need to spray enough protector onto the fabric so that it dampens the surface.
Fabric Protector causes all of the above stains and more to be held on the surface, preventing them from drying in and staining the fabric.
For areas of low-mid use, you will only need to apply Fabric Protector once or twice a year to ensure a thorough, effective protection from staining and soiling. With areas or items with a high level of use, such as a fabric sofa or chair that gets used on a daily basis, applying Fabric Protector four times a year will provide complete protection from stains, spills and soiling for your fabrics.
Fabric Protector has been specifically formulated to be incredibly robust and long lasting, 1-2 applications will typically provide effective protection for your fabrics all year round for items or areas that are used less frequently. However, as with all things, the wear and abrasion from regular day to day use, like a fabric sofa or chair would typically see, can cause the protective barrier created by Fabric Protector, to wear away. With this in mind, we recommend a quarterly treatment for areas or items that will see a high level of use.
Yes, Fabric Protector is safe and effective when used on all fabrics and textiles, so you can protect your clothing, upholstery, curtains and carpets all with a single product. It can even be used on very delicate fabrics such as silk and wool.
When applied to a fabric, like your sofa or chairs for instance, and allowed to dry, Fabric Protector forms an invisible but highly effective polymer barrier on the surface of the fibres in the fabric. This barrier is highly resistant to all liquids and oils, this allows it to keep liquid and solid based spillages, such as food, tea & coffee, red wine etc. on the surface of the fabric and prevents it from being absorbed and staining the fibres. Oils, liquids and general dirt & grime can then be easily cleaned off the fabric with an absorbent cloth.
The procedure for removing the offending liquid, oil or solid based dirt or spillage is the same for all items treated with Fabric Protector. As the liquid or dirt is held on the surface of the fabric, it is simply a matter of taking an absorbent cloth or paper (such as kitchen role), and blotting the area to get rid of it. It is important to avoid using a rubbing action when cleaning up a spill or removing dirt, as this will encourage further penetration into the fibres of the fabric and make it harder to clean.
