Undo dog damage

Postby kencreffield on Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:35 pm

Here is the same question with typos removed:
We have two pale blue sofas in our sitting room and three terrier dogs. One dog - Jack - can't get comfortable without going round in circles and scratching the place where he intends to lie down. The result is badly abraded surfaces about six inches square on each sofa. The smooth blue surface of the leather has disappeared and all that's left are two brown roughened patches - still strong but very ugly.
Is there a product for DIY use that will restore the smooth blue surface?
Thanks for any guidance - Ken

Hi,

You can fix this damage by using a Leather Colourant Kit (http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leathe ... nt_Kit.htm). If you send us a piece of leather, which you can safely remove from under the sofa if you don't have one, we can match the colour of your leather exactly.

The damage is caused by the dog scratching away at the leathers surface, which is actually removing (by abrasion) the coloured coating on the leather. By using the leather colourant kit you re-apply this coating creating a nice finish again.

The product has been designed for DIY use and so you will find it easy enough to use, and achieve a good finish.
