3 Day Leather Cleaning, Repair & Restoration Course
Leather is a widely used material and its use is increasing in popularity year in year out. The demand for more knowledge in leather is also increasing as a result of its increased popularity. We provide training courses teaching everything from the leather making process, identifying different leather types, cleaning & care procedures, ink & stain removal, repairs, restoration and re-colouring.

| Day 1 |
The first day teaches you the basics about leather. We start the morning off with tea and coffee on arrival and then look at:
9:30 Arrive: Tea & coffee.
9:45 Tannery Video: This shows you exactly how leather is made from start to finish.
10:15 Leather Identification Slide Show: A presentation to teach you how to identify and differentiate between the various leather types. We have plenty of of leathers for you to experiment with!
11:30 Cleaning/Conditioning & Protection: You are taught how to professionally clean and care for all leather types with examples to work on.
12:00 Lunch Break: On the House!
1:00 Start Leather Repair: We start the afternoon off by practicing basic leather repairs and stain removal. By the end of the first day we aim to have taught you how to repair; burns, cuts, scratches, scuffs, cat scratches, pen removal, permanent marker removal and slits.
3:00 Break: Tea & coffee
3:15 Back to Leather Repairs: We continue the aformentioned repairs.

| Day 2 |
The second day covers more leather repairs working with real items of furniture.
9.30 Arrive: Tea & coffee.
9.45 Leather Repairs: We spend this time perfecting the work form the previous day. We use an airbursh to spray the colour onto the repaired leather and then finish the repairs off with a spray coating of leather finish.
10:45 More Repairs: We move onto some more serious and harder repairs like rips & tears working always on real items of upholstery. This is so you get a feel of working with leather.
12:00 Lunch Break: On the House!
1:00 Leather Repairs Again: The remainder of the day is spent leaering new techniques and repairs. Here are some of the things we cover;
- Using an airbrush: We use an airbursh to spray colour onto the leather to make it blend in and for a professional finish.
- Grain Copying: You are taught how to copy a leathers grain pattern and then imprint it into the repair compound for an invisible repair.
- Antique Leathers & two tone finishes: We show you how to use an airbrush to spray the top coat onto these leather types to match the pattern and blend it in, with the options to practice it yourself.
- Light Cracking & Surface Abrasion: You are taught how to repair leatehr where the surface is wearing away or peeling.
- Colour Matching: We can't teach you colour matching in just an hour! Its something you need to practice yourself. We therefore provide you with detailed instructions to help you get started!

| Day 3 |
The 3rd day of the course is about re-colouring and restoration of furniture & car interiors.
9:30 Arrive: Tea & Coffee
We will pick the most suitable to work on, selected by the type of industries of the attending candidates. This process involves cleaning and preparing the surface of the leather, fixing any damages such as rough & cracking leather, making the surface smooth, and then applying colour by sponge and spray application, topped off with a coating of finish to seal the job in.
12:00 Lunch Break: On the House!
If we have time, we will also teach candidates how to restore antique style leathers with a rub off finish.
